			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A number of business owners believe that being on Page 1 of Google, when their company name is searched for, is mission accomplished as far as their Online Marketing strategy is concerned.</p>
<p>It doesn’t enter the heads of many business owners that unless their company name is a household name, or they have an extremely well known brand that searchers looking for a product will tend to search the name of that product, and not for the name of one of many businesses who supply that brand . If that searcher has not heard of the company , they wouldn’t know to search for it .</p>
<p>A successful SEO (search engine optimisation) strategy incorporates the business&#8217;s ability to anticipate the mind of a searcher who might be looking for one of their products.</p>
<p>The key to Search Engine Optimisation is keywords, if your website has had decent SEO applied then it will rank for the terms that are both most highly searched, and most likely to convert into sales or sales leads.</p>
<p>SEO can do wonders for any business on the web, but if these companies think that just ranking for their company name will be enough , they are clearly wrong.</p>
<p>Ongoing education about SEO strategies is important for all business  owners. SEO is a continually changing landscape. Learning and  understanding the strategies of SEO will hold you in good stead on two  fronts:-</p>
<ol>
<li>If you employ a company to perform SEO for your business website &#8211;  you will not be dumbfounded and blind sided by incompetent companies  professing to to be SEO experts. You will be able to talk the talk and  will ensure that the company that you employ understands you can not be  bluffed</li>
<li>You will understand that a number of SEO strategies can be  performed in house &#8211; if time and resources permit</li>

<p>I am driving along Parramatta Rd &#038; have just noticed a small mechanical workshop business with a very clever niche. </p>
<p>The sign out the front simply read &#8211; &#8220;specialising in Rolls Royce service &#038; repair&#8221; &#8211; and sure enough parked in the driveway with the bonnet up, was a rolls royce!</p>
<p>Which has me thinking &#8211; it is not only important to target a specific niche in the marketplace &#8211; it is also important to target a lucrative niche. </p>
<p>How well would this mechanical shop go if they specialised in repairing Datsun 180B&#8217;s?</p>
<p>This post has been created on an iPhone whilst sitting in a car &#8211; modern technology just blows me a away!</p>

<p>A colleague recently emailed me a link to a YouTube video.</p>
<p>This video &#8211; a cleverly produced advert has had 7 million+ viewers.</p>
<p>In the past &#8211; <em>before the Internet </em>- to reach 7 million viewers you would have had to aired this advert across a variety of TV networks <span style="text-decoration: underline;">at a huge expense</span>!</p>
<p>Even then &#8211; your advert (<em>and it didn&#8217;t matter how clever it was</em>) was an intrusion &#8211; and generally did not <span style="text-decoration: underline;">&#8216;Engage&#8217;</span> all the potential viewers!</p>
<h3>Social Media Marketing &#8211; in this instance and for this cleverly created advert &#8211; through the use of YouTube, has delivered 7 Million<strong> </strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>&#8216;Engaged&#8217;</strong></span> viewers at the incredible cost of $0.00</h3>
<p>Sure there is a production cost to the video (<em>but the same cost applies if this advert was to be shown on TV or mainstream media</em>)</p>
<p>Enjoy the advert &#8211; and see the power of Social Media Marketing in full swing!</p>

<p>A number of Small Business Owners continually put in a huge amount of effort trying to be <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>the best at what they do</strong></span>!</p>
<p>They strive to provide the best product or ensure that the service that they provide is second to none!</p>
<p>They focus so much on this one endeavour that they fail to get better at the other important processes of their business.</p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Let me remind you</span> &#8211; the delivering of the product or service, is only one aspect of running a successful business!</strong></p>
<p style="padding-left: 60px;">So I would like you to ponder two rhetorical questions!</p>
<ol style="padding-left: 60px;">
<li style="padding-left: 60px;">Do you get the best burgers from McDonalds?</li>
<li style="padding-left: 60px;">Do you get the best service from a Bunnings Store?</li>
</ol>
<p>The answer to these two questions for most people,  in most cases would be an unequivocal NO!</p>
<p>Now I am not suggesting that you take your product or service to the other extreme &#8211; of being bad or poor &#8211; what I am trying to emphasise is simply this &#8211; it doesn&#8217;t have to be the best or close to perfect!</p>
<h2>What Can Small Business Learn from McDonalds and Bunnings?</h2>
<p><strong>You don&#8217;t have to be the best provider of the service or product in your industry &#8211; you simply have to be a better marketer of your service or product.</strong></p>
<p>The success of your business does not hinge on you giving the best service or even having the best product in the world &#8211; it is hinged on how well you can market the &#8216;<em>the thing that you do</em>&#8216;.</p>
<h3><span style="text-decoration: underline;">So Stop Trying to Be The Best @ What You Do &amp; </span><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Get good at Marketing Your Business!</span></h3>
